Launching NorthSide TasteHub: A Community Food Vote for the NorthSide GTA

If you live in any of the towns we think of as the NorthSide GTA — places like Uxbridge, Georgina, East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, Aurora, Stouffville, or Scugog — you already know this:

Where you eat is a big part of why you love your town.

It’s not just about having “somewhere” to grab food. It’s about:

• the pizza place your family swears by
• the wings spot after a game
• the date-night restaurant you recommend to everyone
• the bakery you hit on Saturday mornings

Spend a bit of time in any of the local Facebook groups — Uxbridge, Newmarket, Aurora, Keswick/Georgina, Stouffville, Port Perry and surrounding areas — and you’ll see the same questions come up again and again:

• “Who actually has the best pizza in town?”
• “Where’s your go-to spot for wings?”
• “Any suggestions for a good date-night restaurant?”
• “What’s a good place to take the family?”

These posts get dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of comments.
Everyone has a favourite.
Nobody agrees.
And honestly… we love that.

We’re Matthew and Landon — brothers, local real estate agents, and the team behind Finally Home Agents and NorthSide GTA.
We live here. We work here. We’re raising our families here. And just like you…

We argue with our friends and family about where to eat.

After years of watching these debates in local groups (and jumping into them ourselves), we decided it was time to build something the NorthSide GTA didn’t have:

A community-powered hub where locals can actually vote on their favourite spots — and discover new ones.

That’s how NorthSide TasteHub was born.

🍕 Why We Built NorthSide TasteHub (And Why It Matters Here)

We work in real estate, but our day-to-day life is much bigger than that.

We’re out in these towns every day:

• grabbing a coffee between showings
• meeting clients at local bakeries
• taking our families out for pizza
• running our Thursday Night Golf League across the NorthSide GTA
• and constantly talking with people about where they love to eat

Over and over, the same themes kept popping up:

1. Food is a huge part of small-town life.

When people think about moving from downtown Toronto or a bigger suburb to one of our towns, this question always comes up:

“Okay… but how’s the food here?”

2. Good information is scattered.

In a big city, you have endless:

• blogs
• TikToks
• listicles

In smaller towns, the best information lives inside:

• local Facebook groups
• Google reviews
• word-of-mouth
• the occasional article written by someone who may not even live here

3. Locals wanted one simple place to check.

We kept seeing the same comments:

• “Someone needs to write all these answers down.”
• “We need a place with all of this in one spot.”
• “We need a local list that isn’t just ads.”

So we didn’t want a generic “Top 10” list.
We wanted something that felt like the town talking to itself.

That’s the idea behind NorthSide TasteHub.

NorthSide TasteHub is a section of NorthSideGTA.ca where locals can:

• Vote in live food polls
• See which restaurants are leading
• Discover new spots
• Suggest places we should add

It’s a community scoreboard for food across the NorthSide GTA — powered by locals, not ads.

It’s built for the same towns we help buyers and sellers with every day:

• Uxbridge – home to some of the fiercest pizza debates
• Georgina – lakeside patios, takeout favourites, and strong community loyalty
• East Gwillimbury – a fast-growing area with new restaurants popping up
• Newmarket – a great mix around Main Street and beyond
• Aurora – cozy pubs, date spots, and great takeout
• Stouffville – a growing GO-connected town with legit local food
• Scugog – especially Port Perry, full of charm and small-town favourites

When you land on NorthSide TasteHub, polls are organized by town and category, so everything stays local and relevant.

We wanted TasteHub to be something you can use while standing in your kitchen saying:

We’re Matthew and Landon Mulhall, brothers behind the Finally Home Agents team and NorthSide GTA.

We grew up playing hockey, soccer, baseball and golf across these towns.
Now we:

• host community events
• and spend way too much time talking about food

We didn’t want to talk about community — we wanted to build something that serves it.
